Performance Curriculum Teaching Staff

Foundation Course

We have over five hundred students that audition for Millennium every year. We see a significant number that have talent and ability but have not had enough early training to prepare for the rigours of the course at MPA.

After much encouragement from our colleagues in the theatre supporting the heavy demands from students we were not able to accept, we made the decision to design a course that would build technique and stamina simultaneously for the preparation of full vocational training. We determined that a foundation course would provide the same expert teachers and the same technical demands as our main tuition, but with a slightly reduced timetable to enable the students to build fundamental strength without risking injury.

Many of the classes are with the mainstream student body to avoid the foundation students feeling isolated.

Curriculum is extensive and comprehensive. The disciplines covered are ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, hip-hop, singing, acting technique and text, along with lectures covering audition preparation and technique, history of musical theatre and health and safety for the performer.

Private pilates, group pilates, and commercial jazz classes are available as extra to the core curriculum at heavily subsidised prices.
