Location FAQ Links
When will we be told if the audition is successful?
We try to send all letters out within two weeks of the audition.

How do we find accommodation?
We send out a pack once the accepted student has registered. It has a listing on all the contacts in the area.

How many students in a class?
The maximum number of students in a class is 25. The average number of students in a class is 18. Drama classes have a maximum of 12. Singing classes have a maximum of 12.

Can we specialise in a particular area?
No. The MPA course is comprehensive. All students train the same. This results in a highly versatile performer.

How long is an average day?
The day starts at 8:45 to be ready for 9:00 ballet class and finishes between 5:30 – 6:00pm. We try to give every student either a late morning or an early afternoon to attend to private business, for example: the doctor, dentist, banking, etc.

What is the weekly timetable like?
Ballet is the one class that is done everyday. Jazz, Contemporary, Singing and Acting are done in equal parts. All core technique classes are supported by partnering/pas de deux, pilates, pointworke, etc.

How are the Dance and Drama Awards awarded?
The rules determining the recipients dictate that these awards go to the most talented. The most talented are determined by the Directors and the auditioning panel. Finances cannot be used as an issue unless there are two candidates of a completely similar standard.

How many DaDA awards does MPA have?
It can vary slightly from year to year, but on average we have around 19. The number is based on the size of the student body. The directors made a decision when the school started to keep the college small; the by-product of this decision is the number of awards we are given.

Can anyone get a DaDA after they have begun the course?
Yes, sometimes awards become available. The rules still apply, but work ethic can be added into the equation, as the directors are able to know how committed a particular student is.

NB: All DaDA students must do the National Diploma.

Are students graded by levels or by years?
Students are graded by levels for the most part in dance. Acting is graded by years. Singing is graded first into years, then into levels.

If someone is not successful at the audition, can they audition again?
Yes. If someone is considered borderline, they could be offered a place on the Foundation Course.
